Hank Wieand Bowman's "Stock Outboard Racing Yearbook" was a unique publication, it captures the spirit and state of boat racing in 1955/56 when it was published and goes hand in hand with Boat Sport Magazine. Hank Wieand Bowman, was the premier author of boating articles in the 1950's. His work goes hand in hand with Boat Sport since he, along with his wife Blake Gilpin, wrote most of the articles appearing in the magazine. Bowman authored articles under several pen names. According to Peter Hunn's book "The Vintage Culture of Outboard Racing" He wrote as Tracy Ogden, Shannon Place, Craig Mallery, Crane Whittaker, Shannon Kelly and Henry Hotchkiss. For me, Bowman was "the authority', those other guys were pretty good too.
